Oklahoma’s premiere council on transportation safety and education

Membership

The Oklahoma Safety Management Council (OSMC) is comprised of professionals within the transportation industry of Oklahoma.  These professionals are committed and dedicated to improving highway safety in the transportation industry.  This group is made up of representatives from all aspects of the trucking industry, including safety and operations.   It is the expertise that these individuals bring to the organization that makes this council one of the very best in the nation. 

Our goal is simple—to improve highway safety in Oklahoma and the United States through expert education and practical application.

To achieve this goal, the council meets 10 times annually for meetings and in addition to these meetings, the council hosts the Fall Seminar and the Oklahoma Truck Driving Championship. 

The Fall Seminar is a two day action packed agenda that is dedicated to providing the most current safety education to the attendees.  It is at this event that the prestigious Summit Award is presented to the company or individual who has made significant contributions to improve the safety of the trucking industry within the State of Oklahoma.

 

The Oklahoma Truck Driving Championship is a competition of the state’s best truck drivers.  Competitors meet for two days and are challenged with a written exam, pre-trip inspection and a tough skills course.  The competition is intense and the rewards are great.  After the event, everyone gathers for a banquet and awards ceremony.  The class winners in each category go on to participate in the National Truck Driving Championship. 

OSMC also joins forces with the Oklahoma Trucking Association for their Mid-Winter conference.  Again, a two day conference that brings wide spread industry knowledge to the attendee’s.  At the conclusion of the conference, a banquet is held to distribute the Fleet Safety Awards.  Entrants in this competition submit their company information regarding accident frequency, miles driven etc. to complete for a coveted spot in their class.  It is at this event that the Safety Professional of the Year award is presented to a deserving candidate along with recognition of drivers who excel in safety.
